Young and Restless character history:

Heather is the daughter of Paul Williams and his first wife, April Stevens. As a child, she believed she was actually the daughter of April's second husband, Robert Lynch. April and Heather first re-entered Paul's life when Heather was a young girl. Robert was physically and mentally abusive towards April, and she eventually killed him in self-defense. She was put on trial and was convicted of manslaughter. She was allowed to fulfill her community service back in New York, so she left Genoa City with Heather. Paul had grown close to Heather, but did not tell her she was his daughter.

Over a decade later, Heather arrived in Genoa City to assist District Attorney William Bardwell after he suffered a stroke. However, William died shortly after and she was assigned all his cases. Hoping to establish a connection with his daughter, Paul offered to assist her and was constantly told to tell Heather the truth about her paternity by his girlfriend, Detective Maggie Sullivan. Paul opted not to. Heather was immediately assigned to the case against Jana Hawks, which was put on hold after it was discovered that she had a brain tumor. Her next big case was against Phyllis Newman after she was charged with extorsion for blackmailing Brad Carlton and Sharon Abbott about their affair. As Phyllis attempted to go on the run, Brad found out and informed Heather. After Paul investigated, Heather won the case and Phyllis was sentenced to six years in prison (her conviction was overturned just two months later and she was released). Her next case was against opposing counsel Michael Baldwin's brother Kevin Fisher and his friends Daniel Romalotti and Amber Moore after they decided to keep government money that had already been stolen by Amber's ex-boyfriend. Heather was furious when Michael went over head and got Kevin, Daniel, and Amber acquitted.

Shortly after, Heather began dating Amber's ex-husband Cane Ashby, but their flirtation soon fizzled when they discovered their lack of chemistry and Cane was also attracted to Daniel's ex-wife Lily Winters. Heather confessed to Cane the anger she felt towards her real father for not coming back to her as a child. It wasn't long afterwards that Paul decided to tell Heather that he was her father, against the advice of April. However, before telling her, Heather had discovered that Paul had recently been involved in holding the psychotic Shelia Carter prisoner in a cage in order to protect his friend Lauren Fenmore Baldwin. Heather was furious with Paul for doing this and felt it was her duty to turn him in, despite him being her father. Heather then decided to give him a chance and even spent Christmas with him and Maggie. However, she still couldn't bring herself to forgive him and was even approached by her visiting mother to return home. Around this time, Heather had began displaying her more sensitive side by developing a flirtation with Daniel and dropping the charges against Jana Hawkes. Heather was then assigned to prosecute tycoon Victor Newman for the murder of Ji Min Kim. However, it seems that her lead witness had been paid to give her false information regarding Victor's whereabouts. Heather was then pulled from the case as the charges against Victor was dropped. Victor wasted no time in telling Heather's boss that he wanted her fired for ruining his reputation. Heather then began looking at another suspect: Victor's arch rival Jack Abbott. As Paul began helping Heather with the case, the two of them started to bond more. She eventually had to drop the case against Jack as well as there wasn't enough evidence against him.

In the midst of her court cases, flirtation with Cane and Daniel, and "daddy" issues, Heather discovered that her old college professor Adrian Korbel also lived in Genoa City. Adrian was stunned as Heather was the roommate of an old student named Macy, who had committed suicide. She became suspicious when she discovered an old item of Macy's in Adrian's apartment, which he claimed was given to him by her parents. She has since struck a friendship with Adrian when she discovered that they had a lot in common.

After failing to convict Victor Newman and charge Jack Abbott with th muder of Ji-Min Kim, she condisdered leaving Genva City. Paul convinced newly appointed Jabot CEO Nikki Newman to offer Heather a job as part of its in-house legal team, which she accepted. Shortly afterwards, she struck up a relationship with Adam Newman not knowing that he was the son of Nikki's ex-husband Victor Newman.

In the case concerning Sabrina Newman, Ji Min, and Walter, Paul allowed Heather to take the credit for finding the information, and she was given her old job back by an impressed ex-boss. Heather plans to look more into the murders and into David Chow, a.k.a. Angelo Serafini. She collapsed when at Restless Style and was rushed to the hospital. Adam came to visit her soon after she was admitted and tested. It was found that she had a low red blood cell count, possibly from exhaustion, but further testing is being done.
