Well, the truth is out at last. Cane is Cane Ashby. The little boy from Australia whose Mother died when he was a baby and he never knew his Father. He had a terrible childhood. He hooked up with Phillip (Langley) in Australia and he came here to help Jill and Phillip’s family heal is the word they keep using. They might not have been healed before this but this sure opens the old wounds right back up. So Nina was right, Cane’s a phony or fake and he’s not Phillip III. Cane wants to talk to Lily alone and explain but Neil tells him to leave. When Cane won’t he says him and Lily are leaving. Billy and Mac’s phone’s ring almost at the same time. Chloe is calling Billy and tells him his brother Cane isn’t his brother it was all a lie and he’s a fake. Mac’s call is from Esther who says Katherine collapsed again and was on her way to the hospital and says she just couldn’t take it and Mac asks take what. Anyway, Lily finally says she wants to hear what Cane has to say. So he tells her his sad childhood story and how nothing he told her about them was a lie. He loved her and he’d always love her and he wants her to believe him. Believe you says Lily? You have been lying to me for years. So she’s having no part of it. Neil tells Cane to say away from his daughter. Don’t call, don’t write don’t come around. About this time Billy shows up and says hey bro and sucker punches Cane. Then they have a little chat about him saying him and Chloe were unfit and he’s a big fake and phony and liar and how could he do this to Billy’s Mother. Cane starts to tell Billy that if he had been there for his Mother maybe she wouldn’t have had a need to fill the void. Billy goes off and tells him you need to get out leave. Leave this family, this house and family and don’t ever come back. So Cane does leave. Later he tries to call the hospital and find out how Katherine is and when they ask if he’s a relative he doesn’t lie and say he’s her Grandson, he says no he’s not related and the lady tells him he can’t help him. Devon had gone by Neil’s and finds Lily a mess. We don’t get to see their conversation but Devon goes by Cane’s and picks up some of Lily’s clothes, (1/3) I think he says and picks up the dog. That seems to make her happy to see the dog.
At the hospital Katherine is checked out and she’s had a mild stroke and Olivia wants to keep her for a few days. Murphy is upset over Katherine being back in the hospital and he takes charge. Jill is in her room and he sees Phillip in the hallway. He goes out and calls Nina and says get down her to Memorial and explains she needs to keep this guy out of Katherine’s room. Nina finally arrives about the time that Jill pokes her head out of the room and realizes what’s going on and Katherine is yelling from the room what’s going on I swear either you come in here or I’ll come out there. I swear I will she says. Murphy says this is what he was trying to avoid but they go in and Murphy makes an exit to give them time for their family meeting. Phillip explains that the car accident he had was no accident. He’d attempted to kill himself. He had been at a party at Chancellor and was getting all these slaps on the backs and drinks and it just wasn’t what he wanted or needed at the time. He was depressed, alcoholic and suicidal. He resented all of them he says when Nina asks how he could do this to his son. He asks Nina is that the kind of Father you’d want for your son. Nina says it might not have turned out that way and he said he already resented them.
Chloe says she wants to know why Cane didn’t use the frozen blood when they did the paternity test and get himself off the hook. He said he did use it that’s how he knew that Billy had to be the one. But he’d gone to the lab after they drew the blood and he couldn’t have 2 DNA samples on file. Billy lips off about not having enough funds to fix that. Lily later tells Delia how her Daddy stood up for her and her and Billy are talking to Delia looking like a real family unit. Mac is watching and it’s so hard to read her but maybe she’s feeling a bit of guilt seeing them as a family unit since she’s just been sleeping with Billy at the hotel. That’s where they were when they got their phone calls about Cane.
Cane comes to the hospital at the end of the show and runs into Phillip whose just told Jill he’s not disappearing again. Cane asks if he’s seen Katherine and how she’s doing? Phillip says better than expected and Cane says I need to ask you a question. What the hell are you doing here?
NEXT ON THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS:
“You gave me up Cane, you chose your secret over me”, says Lily.
"I know you didn’t mean to hurt Summer. We can get you help if you will just confess”, says Heather to Phyllis. Michael is watching next to Heather and Phyllis hauls off and slaps her.
“I loved that boy like he was my own. I don’t know if I can get past this”, says Katherine to Jill.
