Acting bio (tv, movies, stage, awards, etc):
Television: Dru came into Y&R in 1990
As a spitfire runaway, teenager, who was very quickly was noticed. Within months of her arrival. She was a real mouth for Y&R she brought the streets to the show.
she was cast as street urchin-turned-fashion model Drucilla Barber. Rowell became a fan favorite and was nominated for three Daytime Emmy awards in 1996, 1997 and 1998. She won 10 NAACP Image Awards for her portrayal of Drucilla. Rowell's first run as Drucilla was from 1990 to 1998. She briefly returned in 2000, then returned on a permanent basis from 2002 until early 2007.
Rowell also played Dr. Amanda Bentley on Diagnosis: Murder, prior to replacing Cynthia Gibb. For much of Rowell's stint on Diagnosis: Murder, she was working on that show and on The Young and the Restless simultaneously. (One episode of Diagnosis Murder centered around murder on the set of The Young and the Restless; Rowell was featured as both Amanda and Drucilla in that episode.)
Rowell's departure from Y&R in April 2007 generated some media coverage and controversy. Rowell expressed her anger about backstage politics at the show, and in particular, how those events impacted her and prevented her from being nominated for a Daytime Emmy. Rowell also indicated that she felt the African-American presence on the show was fading. Rowell told TVGuide.com, "Even iron bends".[5] Sony Pictures Television, which produces Y&R, ordered Lynn Marie Latham to kill off Drucilla Barber Winters to prevent the character - and actress - from migrating to CBS Daytime sister show The Bold and the Beautiful, as other departing

Drucilla Winters needs to return from her watery grave- like yesterday! She has breathed life into the show for so many years- there was never a dull moment with Drucilla always just a few scenes away. I miss Dru!

I read today that IF she comes back to the show that it will be a year from now. The producers need to bring her back NOW. The show is really lacking something without Victoria. She brought personality and energy to the show. None of the other female characters are as interesting and none have her acting chops. I really miss her!!!

Sorry politics got in the way of a great actress's career. Seems the powers that be don't like it when the actors and actresses become so vocal and powerful. Y & R, you lose, because Victoria Rowell was quite an assett to the Y & R. The fans really miss her, and hopefully you will all come to your senses and bring her back. SONY PICTURES TELEVISION & LYNN MARIE LATHAM....wise up. The fans want Victoria Rowell back, and the fans are who keep your show on the air year after year. DO YOU HEAR ME NOW????

I strongly agree. Dru definitely brought something into Y & R. She was fiesty, loving kind and family oriented. Yes, she made mistakes but she was like living everyday life. I really hope to see her back on the show in the very near, near future.
