I too have been watching Y & R since day 1. There have been periods of great storytelling (i.e. when Danny did the summer concerts and Tracie stepped forward and sang instead of a very mean Lauren-FANTASTIC...best story to date in my opinion.) and some REALLY BAD STORYTELLING...like Cath replacing Jills boy and now we have Cane-real stupid and in my opinion undermined the seriousness of the alcoholic issues with Phillip. Real dumb....and losing John...and where's the business tycoon Lauren of "Fenmores"...why does she sit around all day in her apt only now suf from Panic disorder....and why are we always in a court room? ...and bring Sheila's Kimberlyn back, and stop putting Phylis in jail...SHE's the best actress going. Losing Ashley was stupid. Losing the actress Adrianne Leon was WRONG-comparing a styline to her mother's trial and tribs with weight issues would have been perfect...she was an amazing Colleen... I could go on and on...I know it's called the Young and the Restless, but us older folks still have young hearts so lets hang in with the older characters and stop with introducing so many young unidentifiable ones....oh ya...I miss Heather Tom as Victoria(Don't watch B&B).. Need to bring Billy Abbott back too. Need to see the Abbotts FINALLY get on top...so tired of Jack getting the short end year after year by Victor...don't think the writers stand back and actually look at the timelines...so much repetition, so many stylines reused...seem afraid to push the characters in stronger directions...I find the writers afraid to follow through with a styline...seem to phase out stylines without tying them up. Writers need to focus on what makes this series so special...the strength of family run businesses and the inter-relations within that Bell built. Need to go back to blueprnts and pull this show back to the award winner it was.
